Series: Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers
Character: Dale
Timeline: I will roleplay a Dale who has already experienced all of the events in the series.
Personality: While his brother Chip takes a more methodical, no-nonsense approach to crime fighting, Dale would rather have fun and stop crime at the same time. He is crafty, happy-go-lucky, and wisecracking. Sometimes his silliness can get himself and the others in trouble, mostly due to his bumbling and fantastic dreams of being a great hero like in his favorite comics and television programs.
Characteristically, as a chipmunk, he is prone to fits of 'chipmunk chatter' when he is tense, fearful, or bickering with Chip. When cheerful or excited, he often shows it by wagging his tail or making a trademark chittering sound.
Dale is amiable when it comes to meeting others. He fares just fine when meeting rodents or others his size; but he is a bit more skittish when trying to make acquaintances with someone bigger than himself. At four inches tall, this size difference accounts for just about everyone, so more often than not he will seek out friends of his own size or observe a potential friend from a safe distance. Anyone who does give the little guy a chance will be rewarded with fierce loyalty, a rambunctious and endearing personality, and a good humored friend through and through.
After the events of the show, Dale has matured quite a bit. When his friends are in need, he has been able to suppress his nature to panic and take place as a leader or thinker in place of Chip and Gadget, respectively. When the situation is dire, he knows when to put all comic relief on the back burner and become just as resourceful as his friends. Considering all that the Rescue Rangers have been through, they have grown to be his family and he too has grown to be compassionate and eager to please, extending to anyone who needs a rescue. He has a good heart and has always adored the ideals held in many comics and soaring adventure movies: no case of evil is too great or too small for the power of good; everyone could use a hero to believe in.
Background: He is a co-founding member of the Rescue Rangers alongside his brother and best friend, Chip. The members also include Monterey Jack, a large rat with tremendous heart and strength; Zipper, Monty's house fly companion who is resourceful and quick to act like Monty; and Gadget, an extremely intelligent and kind-hearted ally over whom Dale and Chip vie for her affections.
The turning of many leaves back at their oak tree headquarters have brought many adventures to the Rangers over time. Dale has been in a space alien ship, undergone astronaut training, challenged a crocodile to a fencing duel, outfoxed pirates in the search for buried treasure, and pitted himself against a raging bull.
He has both been and played the role of: a superhero, a spy, a guerilla warrior, a vengeful apparition, a leprechaun, and participated in covert operations dressed as a lady-munk.

He has an outstanding sense of smell and hearing. He is swift in moving on vertical surfaces and an excellent climber. He learned American Sign Language through communication with Gadget's friend Mouseo. Dale also taught himself gentleman's fencing, probably first sparked by reading comics or television which he loves to do in his spare time.
Sample Journal Post: [Video / Text]
[As the video feed showed up on the screen, Dale had not quite noticed it, as it seemed he had unknowingly prompted it while dialing any sort of number left in the directory of the phone. Soon realizing that the call he was making had went through, he posed the questions of who was there, why was he alone, if anyone could hear him...or at least, that's what it looked like in his body language and his mouthing. It all sounded like high-pitched chatter over the speaker. Ultimately, he realized in futility, most humans could not understand his small chipmunk voice, unless the listener happened to be a rodent, or another small creature.]
With a hesitant, defeated look gracing his features, he returned his gaze to the phone. He discovered the texting feature and composed a message, utilizing his entire body to work the keyboard where most would only need a hand.
Has anyone seen my friends? Whoever has my favorite shirt, take good care of it.
Tell my friends... I wish I didn't have to miss a day without them.
It seems I am the one in need of rescuing now.
[Shortly after he composed the text, he wiped a paw over the surface of his stark white bedclothes and shrugged towards the camera.
The rest of the video feed seemed to be a bit choppy. The video frequently cut to footage of Dale exploring the room while the phone captured a single vantage point, then jump to another cut of Dale making shadow puppets or showing off his parkour or fencing skills. As the video(s) went on, he looked a little less apprehensive and appeared to be more comfortable in his surroundings. At least he had a toy to play with.]
Sample RP: The evening air was cool and crisp. The breeze rustled the leaves in such a fashion that it sounded like the tip of a rattlesnake's tail, and it howled as it tickled Dale's ears. He sat perched among the top branches of his oak tree home, his senses engaged, and his paws crouched and ready to spring into action. He could just smell the adventure unfolding! There wasn't quite anything as exciting to him as being the hero. Dale whispered to himself from his observatory position above the other Rangers, carrying a punching bag into the den for Monty's exercise routine.
"Ah ha! I've got you now, Sourpuss! Prepare to face my vengeance!" With that he descended rapidly through the tangled branches and overgrowth of leaves like a bullet, his rapidfire strides thudding against the trunk mirroring the sound of his own heart. He slipped and skated his way down effortlessly, grasping a leaf on the way down. He landed beside the window opening up into Gadget's workshop on the first floor, molding the leaf into a makeshift sword as he quietly witnessed his friends Monterey Jack and Chip situating the punching bag in the corner that was designated as the exercise room. Wearing a determined glint in his eyes, he vaulted through the window, waving the pointed leaf in a display of swordsmanship. "Your dark days with Missie here are numbered!"
As Dale darted back and forth, Monterey Jack heaved a hearty chuckle. "Oho! What have we here, palley? A challenger? Well I'll have you know this blighter can take a swing or two!" Monterey pantomimed his free arm, as his other arm supported the punching bag. He indulged Dale's game for now.
"EN GARDE, Sourpuss!" Dale proclaimed enthusiastically, pinning the dummy with the tip of his leaf-blade. They exchanged blows, or rather, Dale exchanged blows with his sword while Monterey grasped one of the poles for rigging the punching bag and jabbed playfully back at the chipmunk warrior. Chip was watching with his usual impatience at Dale's antics, until he was roped into Dale's arm as he passed. "Never fear, milady! Justice will be done this eve!" Chip sank his head into his free hand, and separated himself from Dale's hold, readjusting his fedora on his head. "Don't worry about me, worry about yourself." Chip said dryly, but while at first he told himself he had better things to do with his time, he managed to stay silently fond of Dale's fantastic roleplaying and it even began to appeal to him to join in the fun.
"You'll not best me!" Monterey said, doing his best to sound like a hardened villain. Steadily but surely, Monty was being forced back into the corner in which he came. "NO! Good will triumph, it will reign, it will succeed!" Dale said, the force of his words driving his swift hand with the sword, eventually leading to Monty losing his footing over some more rigging laying out on the ground. "WHOOPS!" Monty exclaimed before cushioning his fall onto the punching bag. "Hooray!" Dale replied cheerfully, first approaching Monterey to support him as he sat back up. Dale's tail wagged as he shook his opponent's hand. "Thanks little mate," Monty responded, "witnessing your sword skills, me laddie, is like taking that first bite of the very finest cheese." Dale's smile broadened at Monterey's comparison. He promptly was at Chip's side, bowing his head slightly and his sword in his arms. Chip entertained Dale by removing his fedora, and bowing also. He replaced his hat and rubbed Dale's ruff of hair affectionately. "C'mon," he said while masking a slight chuckle, "dinnertime for restless heroes and damsels alike."
